About the Firm
Merrick & Vane LLP was founded in 1987 on a simple premise: clients are better served by a small number of senior lawyers who stay with a matter from beginning to end than by a rotating cast of unfamiliar associates. Four decades later, that premise still shapes how the firm staffs every engagement.
The firm today comprises six practice groups — Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Corporate & M&A, Real Estate, Intellectual Property, Employment & Labor, and Trusts & Estates — serving businesses and individuals across technology, healthcare, manufacturing, real estate and hospitality, financial services, nonprofit and education, and family-owned enterprise.
What hasn’t changed since 1987 is the firm’s size relative to its ambition: Merrick & Vane has deliberately stayed mid-size rather than merging into a national platform, on the view that senior-lawyer attention scales worse than headcount does. Clients who have worked with larger firms often describe the difference less as a matter of legal skill than of who actually answers the phone.
